50' LOA Tug Designed specifically for moving cargo barges from the Harbor to the Islands, with a very round maneuvering tug bow, shallow draft, sea-kindly middle strake, ice-cutter stem, and wide shaft separation. This boat typically moves barges of 90' to 140' up and down the coast and then maneuvers them to position in tight harbors using hip and push. She can easily double as a local harbor line-handler, suitable in smaller harbors where gross tonnage doesn't indicate the expense of a tractor drive. The vented twin skegs allow a tight maneuvering radius while providing directional stability in proportion to hull speed, and a rational blocking plan on the hard. This is not an easy hull to plate up, but lots of full and partial bulkheads and deep floors over a double ladder truss keel system will allow the competent builder to complete a very satisfying project. Unified Tower Design; This half tower is simple to construct and not only looks good but gives excellent visibility. It gives the builder room to personalize without a lot of fussy time-consuming detail, and provides a clean and easily maintained house for owner.
Can be equipped with Pump-jet bow and stern thrusters All Designs customized to order |
